The Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] has nominated K.K. Shailaja, former Health Minister and current Mattannur MLA, as its candidate for the Vadakara seat in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. Ms. Shailaja, who is contesting the Lok Sabha polls for the first time, was recognised by the United Nations for her efforts in combating the COVID-19 pandemic as Health Minister. She was among the distinguished leaders invited to address the United Nations Public Service Day.
